Top Tier: Max Scherzer- Scherzer has kept up his elite pace all season once again, and makes for the easy cash game play on Tuesday night. A lot of talk will be focused on Walker Buehler, and rightfully so, but on DraftKings I want to lock in Mad Max at the top. I do like Buehler in tournaments, and I prefer him on FanDuel given the price differential between him and Scherzer, but it’s much closer on DK and I want to lock in the floor of the perennial Cy Young contender. His strikeouts have sat around 32.0% all season and are actually closer to 35.0% over the second half of the season. Stephen Strasburg struggled early in the game last night racking up a 40 pitch first inning, but that has nothing to do with Max tonight. This is not a good Marlins offense and he should be able to dominate them tonight, as they lack any power to beat him with.
Mid Tier: Touki Toussaint- This is a weird price range on DraftKings that won't garner much attention in cash games. Josh James will be the popular pick in this tier, which makes Toussaint a great GPP play at expected low ownership. I don't go out of my way to pick on the Mets with righties, but they are striking out almost 23.0% over the last 14 days. Toussaint is one of the Braves many young upside arms, and he flashed his K ability racking up over 28.0% strikeouts at Triple A this season. Some still don't know he has legitimate potential, and if you roster him tonight be sure to laugh when you think about the Diamondbacks giving him up for PHILIP GOSSELIN. Another one of the heists the Braves have pulled off in recent years, and it's why they are in the position they are now in.
Low Tier: Robbie Erlin- Erlin “disappointed” in his last start giving up three runs over five innings of work against this same Giants team, but if you factor in his price...did he really disappoint? When priced at just $5,400 on DraftKings, 11 fantasy points is more than acceptable in a cash game setting when it allows you to spend up in other areas. He has average strikeout stuff, but at his price he doesn’t need to rack up a bunch of K’s. He is my preferred cash game SP2 tonight and makes for the perfect pairing with Scherzer/Buehler even if he gets you “only” 11 points.
C: Yasmani Grandal, Francisco Cervelli, Evan Gattis
1B: Max Muncy, Jesus Aguilar, Edwin Encarnacion,
2B: Jose Altuve, DJ LeMahieu, Jose Ramirez
3B: Justin Turner, Anthony Rendon, Jeimer Candelario
SS: Manny Machado, Trea Turner, Trevor Story (spend up at this position tonight)
OF: Mike Trout, Joc Pederson, Kole Calhoun, Victor Robles, Marwin Gonzalez
Stack of the Day
1. Dodgers- Matt Koch. Roof open. Let's go!
2. Nationals- NOBODY played them last night and nobody will again on a huge slate. Mr. Brigham was #bad in the minors and I don't expect him to find success against this Nats lineup with his limited strikeout ability.
