UFC Fight Night: Boise

My favorite picks in the top range are Alexander Volkanovski, Dennis Bermudez, Chad Mendez and Junior Dos Santos. My favorite options for cash games across the slate are Volkanovski, Northcutt, Carmouche, and Wineland. Lastly, my low-cost top tournament plays are Justin Scoggins, Myles Jury, Rick Glenn, and Darren Elkins.

DraftKings contests for this event will lock on Saturday, July 14th, at 3:30 PM PST/ 6:30 PM EST so make sure you have your lineups set before then.

Top Tier Fighter
Alexander Volkanovski ($9,200)
Alexander Volkanovski is starting to crack the top 20 rankings and a win over Darren Elkins will help his momentum. His game log is impressive. He's 4-0 in the UFC having racked up more than 100 DK points in each fight. That includes two KO/TKO wins to go with two decision victories.

He's no slouch when it comes to output. He averages about 70 SS per fight to go along with 3.5 TD and 3.5 ADVC per fight. He's fighting Darren Elkins, who's been on a bit of streak as of late. So I think using Elkins in GPP isn't a bad idea, especially if he gives Volkanovski a more difficult time than past foes.

I don't expect Volk to walk right through Elkins. I think the odds are closer than they sit now with Volk being a 300+ favorite. I think this fight will go the distance so the over on 2.5 may be a good bet. (Cash)

Also, consider Junior Dos Santos ($8,700) who is fighting in the main event heavyweight attraction. (GPP)

Mid Tier Fighter
Sage Northcutt ($8,400)
Northcutt has come a long way since making his debut but he's still got a ways to go before he enters the ranking discussion. His 5-2 UFC record is respectable. We've seen flashes of highlights in his fights and has the ability to score 90+ DK points against lower competition.

That is exactly what he gets when he steps inside the Octagon with Zak Ottow in Boise. Northcutt should have the advantage on the feet and on the ground as long as he doesn't end up on his back. Ottow rarely goes for the takedown, so the latter is least likely to happen. And if this does stay standing, Northcutt will have the advantage.

Ottow does possess a bit of power. I don't think he will be too popular from an ownership perspective so if you're doing multiple lineups, he's not a bad punt play. I do prefer Sage for cash but I wouldn't be opposed to using him in tournaments for the price. (Cash & GPP)

Also, consider Liz Carmouche ($8,200) who's fought very tough opponents in her UFC career and has done well. Her matchup is juicy on this card and I like her chances of getting the win. (Cash)

Low Tier Fighter
Eddie Wineland ($7,100)
There are actually a number of plays in the $7K range that I like. Niko Price, Justin Scoggins, Myles Jury, Eddie Wineland and Darren Elkins all make for solid GPP plays.

I like Wineland because his upside is a bit higher than the rest at the price. He's been on both sides of KO ending fights. So he is more of a boom or bust play. As of late, though, he's put together two KO wins in his last three fights. He's a seasoned veteran who should give Alejandro Perez a tougher time than Vegas thinks.

He also sports a TD defense unlike any other so this fight should play out on the feet. I think it ends before the judge's decision with Wineland having a great chance of winning. (GPP)

Also, consider Myles Jury ($7,300) who is fighting Chad Mendez. Mendez is returning to the cage after a two-year suspension and has not fought since December 2015. (Cash & GPP)
