John Wall (at DAL, DK - $9,300, FD - $9,500) – Wall has been on absolute fire recently, and there is very little reason to avoid him at his price tonight. Over his last seven games, he’s averaging 27.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 10.1 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. He’s a triple double threat whenever he steps on the court, and he may have to do a bit more scoring tonight if Bradley Beal is out again. He gets a great matchup against an aging Dallas team, and he should be able to score in transition early and often tonight. Wall can be used in all leagues.
Derrick Rose (vs NO, DK - $6,500, FD - $6,600) – Rose has flashed tremendous upside at times this season, but he has also really struggled at times, as well. He has been playing fairly well over the last 10 days, averaging 13.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game. He’s locked into big minutes for the Bulls, which gives him a great ceiling on any given night. Tonight, he gets a great matchup against the Pelicans, who love to push the pace, and this game should be high scoring with plenty of opportunities for Rose to record fantasy points. New Orleans has been one of the worst teams in the NBA against opposing point guards, and Rose makes a great GPP option tonight.
D’Angelo Russell (at HOU, DK - $4,800, FD - $5,100) – Russell was recently benched for the Lakers, but he started last night for an injured Jordan Clarkson, and he responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Clarkson is doubtful again tonight, which means Russell should start and play big minutes once again. It looks like he’s finding his place on the team as a shooter, as he has taken at least 20 shots in each of his last two games. Tonight, he gets a great matchup against the Rockets, who have surprisingly struggled against opposing point guard this season, even with Patrick Beverley on the court. Russell is too cheap for someone who will play 30+ minutes and potentially shoot the ball 20+ times. He can be used in all leagues.
Paul George (at DET, DK - $10,200, FD - $10,400) – George let everyone down last night, but even in a bad game, he scored 23 points with 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. That certainly wasn’t value for his price, but that isn’t a bad floor for a guy who could potentially score 70 fantasy points. He was surprisingly low owned last night, and I’m going back to the well with him tonight. He exceeds value way more often than not, which says a lot because of his $10k+ price tag. Tonight, he gets a matchup against Detroit, who have played well against small forwards this season, but PG13 is matchup proof. He can be used in all leagues, even with his struggled last night.
Draymond Green (at MIL, DK - $8,200, FD - $8,100) – Klay Thompson is questionable tonight, and if he is out, Green turns into a must play. Last night, with Thompson out of the lineup, Green stepped up on offense, and scored 24 points with 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals. He shot only 8-20, so there is much more room for improvement tonight. These numbers shouldn’t necessarily be expected though, as the game went into double overtime last night, but Green’s upside is undeniable when he becomes a bigger part of the offense. The Bucks have really struggled against the small forward and power forward this season, which are the two positions Green plays. Again, if Thompson is out, Green is nearly a must start tonight. If Thompson suits up, Green can be used in GPPs.
Corey Brewer (vs LAL, DK - $4,000, FD - $4,100) – Brewer drew the start for Trevor Ariza in their last game, and if Ariza sits again tonight, Brewer will likely start and play big minutes again. In his last two games, Brewer is averaging 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in 31.0 minutes per game. He’ll get a great matchup against the Lakers tonight, and they love pushing the pace with little defensive efforts. Brewer becomes significantly less appealing if Ariza plays tonight, but the Rockets likely won’t need him in this game, so Brewer could get a few minutes even if he comes off the bench tonight.
Pau Gasol (vs NO, DK - $7,700, FD - $8,600) – Gasol’s minutes have been all over the place recently, but he has steadily exceeded value in six consecutive games. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 20.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 1.0 steal in 30.5 minutes per game. He has seen 33 minutes in each of his last two games, so hopefully the Bulls are settling in on set minutes for him. Tonight, he gets a great matchup against the Pelicans, who have struggled against the center this season and are going to turn this game into a track meet. Gasol doesn’t come cheap, but his upside outweighs his risk, and he can be used in all leagues.
Dwight Howard (vs LAL, DK - $7,200, FD - $7,700) – I’m a bit concerned with Howard’s minutes tonight, as he played under 30 minutes in each game in his last back-to-back set, and they were against tougher opponents than the Lakers. With that being said, he likely won’t need more than 30 minutes to hit value at his current price tag tonight. The Lakers have struggled against big men, and Howard has been great this season. He isn’t shooting the ball much, but he’s been on of the best rebounders in the NBA, aside from Andre Drummond this season. Howard can be used in GPPs tonight, but his minutes are a bit too up and down for cash games.
