NBA Player Breakdown 12/19/2015

NBA Dail Fantasy Lineups Discount

Guards

James Harden (vs LAC, DK - $10,700, FD - $10,700) – Harden is the most expensive player on the slate, and for good reason. He’s fairly consistent, and he has tremendous upside. He gets a great matchup against the Clippers, who he scored 46 points on earlier in the season. Harden is essentially the Rockets offense, and he’ll continue to shoot 20+ times again tonight. He isn’t going to come cheap, but this game should be fast paced and stay fairly close. Harden has arguably the best floor/ceiling combination of anyone on the slate, and if you can fit him in your lineup, you would be wise to play him.

Chris Paul (at HOU, DK - $7,800, FD - $8,500) – Wall is a great option tonight, but Paul can be had at a discount, and he has quietly been playing well. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 15.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 10.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per 33.5 minutes per game. Houston loves pushing the pace, and they have really struggled against point guards this season. CP3’s price still looks like it’s based off of his injury, and not his recent production, and he can be used in all leagues tonight.

J.J. Redick (at HOU, DK - $4,700, FD - $4,500) – Redick has caught fire over his last three games, and his price surprisingly hasn’t gone up. He’s averaging 21.3 points per game over his last three games, and his fantasy points are very similar. His price has yet to increase much, and Redick has been a streaky shooter since his time at Duke. He’s beginning to heat up right now, which is the time you want to play him. He gets a great matchup against Houston, who love pushing the pace and have played very little defense this season. Redick is a great option in all leagues if you need to save a bit of salary.

Forward

Blake Griffin (at HOU, DK - $8,800, FD - $9,200) – Griffin is the only power forward I’m looking at on DraftKings, but there are a couple options on FanDuel because of the different positions. Griffin gets a great matchup against the Rockets tonight, who he dominated with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists earlier this season. This game will be played at a fairly fast pace, which will give Griffin plenty of opportunities to hit and exceed value. This is the lowest Griffin has been priced this season, and on the smaller slate, he’s nearly a must play.

Carmelo Anthony (vs CHI, DK - $8,300, FD - $8,700) – Melo has been playing unbelievably well recently. He’s coming off a bad game against the Sixers, but he was on pace for 50+ fantasy points before the game became a blowout and he wasn’t needed in the offense anymore. Tonight, he gets a great matchup against the Bulls, who have been one of the worst teams in the NBA against small forwards. Chicago has been playing at a much faster pace this season, and this game should be able to stay fairly close throughout. Melo makes a great play in all leagues.

Matt Barnes (vs IND, DK - $5,300, FD - $4,500) – Barnes’ price on FanDuel is absolutely ridiculous, and he’s still a bit too cheap on DraftKings. He has really been playing well in the starting lineup, aside from one game in which he was in foul trouble early on. He gets a great matchup against the Pacers tonight, who love pushing the pace and playing small ball, which will help Barnes at power forward. He has great upside, and aside from that one game, he has been consistent in the starting role. He can be used in all leagues tonight.

Centers

Marc Gasol (vs IND, DK - $7,300, FD $7,600) – Gasol has been extremely up and down recently, but his upside outweighs the risk. He’s a five category contributor, which is a bit shocking for a center. He has the ability to triple double in the right situation, and he gets a great matchup against Indiana tonight. The Pacers love playing at a fast pace, and that bodes well for Gasol’s fantasy outlook. He isn’t too pricey yet, but he’s best suited for GPPs with some of the other center options tonight.

DeAndre Jordan (at HOU, DK - $6,800, FD - $7,400) – Jordan is my favorite center on the slate, as he has been playing extremely well recently. Over the last 10 days, he is averaging 11.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 1.0 steal per game. He only played 18 minutes in his last game, but he was ejected in the third quarter, and he’ll be back to playing minutes in the mid- to high-30s again tonight. Jordan gets a great matchup against the Rockets, who are a fast paced team, and he is the safest option at center tonight.
