Chris Paul (vs OKC, DK - $8,100, FD - $8,700) – Paul is fairly priced on FanDuel, but he’s entirely too cheap on DraftKings. In his last 5 games, he’s averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. Tonight, he gets a good matchup against the Thunder, who have been an average team at covering the point guard this season. Westbrook also tends to turn the ball over, and CP3 is one of the best players in the league at steals. He’s playing big minutes in close games, and he should be able to continue to exceed value tonight.
Jarrett Jack (at CHI, DK - $6,600, FD - $6,900) – Jack is coming off a terrible game, in which the Nets were dominated by the Wolves. In the 5 games before that, he was averaging 16.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Jack is one of the streakiest players in the NBA, and aside from his last game, he has bee on fire. Tonight, he gets a matchup against the Bulls, who have been able to contain point guards this season. With that being said, they are playing at a much faster pace and focusing less on defense this season. Jack plays huge minutes for the Nets, and they’re going to need a big game from him tonight. He comes with a bit of risk, which means he’s best suited for GPPs tonight.
J.J. Redick (vs OKC, DK - $4,800, FD - $4,600) – I’m going back to the well with Redick because he has been hot and his price isn’t really changing. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 19.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He’s a streaky shooter, and he’s hitting his shots right now. He doesn’t add much in terms of peripheral stats, but he has been scoring enough to hit value each game. The Thunder have an average defense, but this game have a fast paced tempo and it should be high scoring. The Clippers have been relying on Redick more and more over the last couple of games, and he makes a great salary relief option tonight.
Carmelo Anthony (vs ORL, DK - $8,400, FD - $8,600) – I’m going to continue to ride Melo until his price shoots up. Over the last 10 days, he’s averaging 22.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He was on pace for another huge game against the Sixers before the game became a blowout, but he got back on track in his last game against the Bulls. Tonight, he gets a great matchup against the Magic, who love turning games into shootouts. Melo is the type of player that will completely take the New York offense over in a fast paced game. His price is still a bit too low, and he can be used in all leagues tonight.
Paul Millsap (vs POR, DK - $8,000, FD - $8,300) – Millsap hasn’t been playing all that well recently, but he gets a tremendous matchup against the Blazers tonight. Portland has really struggled to rebound the ball this season, and Millsap is the leading rebounder for Atlanta. Millsap is much more than a rebounder, as he has the ability to contribute in all five categories at a high level, which is rare to find in a big man. Millsap’s minutes should be safe, and his upside is undeniable. I have been using him a bit more in GPPs recently because of how risky he has been, but he can be used in all leagues in this tremendous matchup.
Bobby Portis (vs BKN, DK - $3,300, FD - $3,900) – There needs to be some type of information out that Portis is guaranteed minutes before game time, or this pick is irrelevant. He recently played 23 minutes with Pau Gasol resting, and he recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. He was the best player in the Summer League, and he has dominated everyone and anyone he has played against this season. Doug McDermott is dealing with an injury to his surgically repaired knee, which could lead to Mirotic playing more small forward, and Portis getting on the court more. Coach Fred Hoiberg also recently stated that he needs to find a way to get Portis on the court, and after his last game, it would make sense that he would try to get him minutes again tonight. Once again, this is pure speculation, so find information about the situation closer to tip-off.
DeAndre Jordan (vs OKC, DK - $6,900, FD - $7,700) – Jordan has been Mr. Consistent recently, as he’s averaging 11.3 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game over the last 10 days. He gets a good matchup against the Thunder, and similarly to a few other Clippers, Jordan is a bit underpriced tonight. This game should be played at a fairly fast pace, which will benefit an athletic big man like Jordan. He’s nearly a lock for a double double right now with the chance for a lot more. Continue to use him before his price gets too high, as he’s a bit of a steal right now.
Mason Plumlee (at ATL, DK - $5,000, FD - $5,200) – I’m not a huge fan of Plumlee, but his price tag is a bit too low tonight. He is one of the riskier plays on the board because of his ability to get into foul trouble and disappear in games. Still, he has been playing fairly big minutes for the Blazers, and he has tremendous upside. He gets a good matchup against the Hawks, who have really struggled to guard centers this season, and Plumlee has great double double abilities. He should be used in any cash games, but for this price, he can be used in tournaments.
