NBA 3/10/17 Breakdown

As NBA is a game where last minute real life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second

Point Guard

Cash Plays: Jeremy Lin, Ricky Rubio, Cory Joseph

Gpp Plays: Kemba Walker, Jamal Murray, Rajon Rondo

Game Theory: Jeremy Lin has seen his minutes start to increase and is way under priced on both sites for the type of spark he brings to the Nets offense. The ball will always be in his hands while on the court and that's exactly what we like to see from a fantasy perspective. The matchup with the Mavericks is not ideal and it is paced down but we just saw the Nets drop 130+ points on the second best defensive team in the NBA and can force teams to play at their pace. With Kyle Lowry out Cory Joseph will handle the majority of the ball handling duties while on the court. He is seeing 30+ minutes per game and is a very safe option for cash games but does not offer much upside for GPP. For GPP Rajon Rondo always has the potential to have a huge fantasy outing. The only thing holding him back is minutes. If Rondo is playing well and can reach around 30 minutes he has immense upside.

Shooting Guard

Cash Plays:  Sean Kilpatrick, Seth Curry, Avery Bradley

Gpp Plays:  Bradley Beal, Wesley Matthews, Evan Fournier

Game Theory:   I have played Sean Kilpatrick 2 of his last 3 games and he has been HOT. As many of you know I am a Nets fan so I have faith in Kilpatrick and think he continues his great play tonight. He is a great shooter and shot creator, with Lin on the floor drawing attention from the defense Kilpatrick can get great looks and make smart cuts to the rim. He's still slightly underpriced and does carry some risk but I like him tonight for cash and GPP.  On the other side of this game we have Seth Curry who has been playing great basketball lately and is still priced around where he was before this dream matchup with the Nets. I think this game will go under looked and be more high scoring than people expect. Curry is a very safe option in cash today.  For GPP I am going to turn to Evan Fournier again as he has 40 point upside which we saw in his last game. If Ross isn't playing well that usually means Fournier is. The two negatively correlate and Fournier is a great GPP play with 7x upside.

Small Forward

Cash Plays:  Jimmy Butler, Harrison Barnes, Trevor Ariza

Gpp Plays: Paul George, Khris Middleton, CJ Miles

Game Theory:   In my opinion small forward is the toughest position today. The clear number one option you can pay up for is Jimmy Butler which is most likely the smartest and safest move in cash games. Butler is in a plus matchup in an up pace game and will be the highest owned SF on the slate today. Another safe option you can go with is Harrison Barnes who does not usually have a ton of upside but provides some tonight with the Nets matchup. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is a good defender but the up pace game should provide more opportunities for Barnes to hit and exceed value.  In GPP I like differentiating off Butler to Paul George who offers similair upside but is much more likely to bust than Butler. He gives you a little discount and is a sharp way to differentiate in GPPs.

Power Forward

Cash Plays:  Serge Ibaka, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Millsap

Gpp Plays:   Quincy Acy, Marvin Williams, Nikola Jokic

Game Theory:  Usually I refuse to play Serge Ibaka in cash because of how many times I played him and he busted. I still have that thought in the back of my head but I think he is a safe play today and provides a high floor with some upside. Another great play today is Dirk Nowitzki who should see a usage bump with Nerlens Noel out and is in a great uptempo matchup with the Nets. My only concern here is the game blows out but I don't think that is likely and will have a lot of Dirk in my lineups today.  For GPP my favorite play is Nikola Jokic (if he plays). The questionable tag will keep his ownership down and I think he will goo under owned either way if he was playing. We have seen what kind of upside Nikola Jokic provides and if you can get that type of upside at <10% ownership I suggest being overweight in GPPs.

Cash Plays: Cody Zeller, Robin Lopez

Gpp Plays: Dwight Howard, Justin Hamilton

Game Theory:   Cody Zeller is way underpriced if he's going to get 30-35 minutes per game. With Frank Kaminsky out for the season the Hornets will be relying on Zeller more as an offensive big man and he should easily hit value tonight and has a lot of upside at his discounted price tag.  For GPP my favorite play is Justin Hamiton. With Brook Lopez out Hamilton will see most of the minutes at center and if his shots are falling will be rolled out their the majority of the game. He has a lot of upside at about minimum price on both sites.
