NBA 3/16/17 Breakdown

As NBA is a game where last minute real life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second

Point Guard

Cash Plays: Jeremy Lin, Dennis Schroder, Chris Paul

Gpp Plays: Isaiah Whitehead, Austin Rivers, Elfrid Payton

Game Theory:  Jeremy Lin had a terrible shooting night the last time he played the Knicks and still was able to get near value. I expect positive regression tonight and a guard who is still under price getting his minutes increased every game is a great play for cash tonight with some upside. It's become custom to target guards against the Nuggets and you shouldn't be afraid to keep up the tradition here. He and Austin Rivers are both in play tonight. For GPP my favorite play off of Jeremy Lin is Isaiah Whitehead. He's been seeing a ton of minutes lately and I think he shows up tonight. He is capable of scoring and if he can dish out some assists has the chance to crush value.

Shooting Guard

Cash Plays:  Garry Harris, Klay Thompson, Victor Oladipo

Gpp Plays: Jamal Crawford, Will Barton, Tim Hardaway Jr.

Game Theory:    Garry Harris is not in an ideal spot but is still underpriced for the type of minutes he plays. Playing 35+ minutes per game averaging .78 FP/Min provides an extremely safe floor for cash games. Another guy I like for cash tonight is Victor Oladipo. He's been pretty consistent since coming back and should only see his minutes rise. If for some reason Westbrook isn't playing efficiently, Oladipo is the next guy up for creating offense for the Thunder.  For GPP my favorite play is Tim Hardaway Jr. People will be off of him because of his matchup with the Grizzlies in a slower paced game. I have been targeting aggressive scoring guards against the Grizzlies in GPP's and it has worked out a few times in the past couple weeks. I think this is another spot where we could see a big game.

Small Forward

Cash Plays:  Carmelo Anthony, Joe Johnson, Lebron James

Gpp Plays: Gordon Hayward, Terrance Ross, Richard Jefferson

Game Theory:    Carmelo Anthony didn't really get going in his game against the Nets the other day until the fourth quarter. When he did demand shots on the offense the Knicks actually scored much more efficiently and played better offense. I expect the Knicks to get the ball to Melo often and early, he is a great cash game play. Another guy I like tonight which is cash and gpp is Joe Johnson. This is an uptempo game with the reigning champs and I expect Johnson to show up. He is still a capable player and may want to show the Cavs that he still has something left in the tank. Not a huge risk because he's so cheap as well. For GPP my favorite play is Terrance Ross. He is just too cheap for the kind of upside he has. If his shot is falling the Magic will feed him and he will crush value. It's just a matter of when.

Power Forward

Cash Plays:  Marreese Speights, Juan Hernangomez, Trevor Booker

Gpp Plays:   Brandon Bass, Serge Ibaka, Nikola Jokic

Game Theory:  Speights and Hernangomez will both be popular tonight in cash and for good reason considering the amount of minutes each of them will get at such a low price. Lock either of them into your games with confidence that if they play 25+ minutes they will hit value. Another guy for cash you can pivot off too is Trevor Booker who is the staple of consistency and could be a key piece in Brooklyn pulling off another win against the Knicks tonight. For GPP my favorite play is Serge Ibaka who is matched up with his old team the Thunder. This is a bit of a narrative but Ibaka is seeing a lot of minutes with increased usage because of the Lowry injury. The Thunder play up-pace and if Ibaka is ever matched up on Enes Kanter this game he will dominate.

Cash Plays: Brook Lopez,  Guillermo Hernangomez

Gpp Plays: Zaza Pachulia, Nikola Vucevic, Kyle O'Quinn

Game Theory:    Hernangomez will be the most popular center tonight with Porzingis assumed out. If ruled out Hernangomez becomes the clear best play at center tonight with a lot of upside. If you are looking to differentiate I like Kyle O'Quinn who could eat up some minutes if he is playing well and does have some upside if he racks up a few blocks/steals.
