NBA 3/17/17 Breakdown

As NBA is a game where last minute real life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second

Point Guard

Cash Plays: Rajon Rondo, Jeremy Lin, Tyler Ullis

Gpp Plays:  Isaiah Whitehead, Elfrid Payton, Goran Dragic

Game Theory:  Since taking over the starting roll at PG for the Bulls Rajon Rondo has been playing extremely well basketball (at least from a fantasy perspective). With his minutes finally being in the mid 30's we can expect a very safe floor with a ton of upside from Rondo in this up pace game with the Wizards. Another guy who has been playing great basketball is Jeremy Lin. He is only going to see his minutes continue to rise which just means he will continue to see his FP/game rise. He is a great play in cash today and figures to play a big roll in this matchup with the Celtics in Brooklyn.  For GPP I'm going back to Isaiah Whitehead. He let me down last night but is still minimum price playing 22-30 minutes per game. If he gets to the top end of that estimate he will crush value.

Shooting Guard

Cash Plays:  James Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Avery Bradley

Gpp Plays:  Seth Curry, Denzel Valentine, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Game Theory:    Shooting guard is where I'll be spending up today as it is usually the most volatile position. Both Harden and Giannis are in pretty good spots today and provide an extremely safe floor for cash. With Isaiah Thomas out Avery Bradley becomes a viable cash game option considering his minutes have been getting up there and Thomas being out should only boost both his minutes and usage.  For GPP my favorite play is Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. He can pop for a 40 FP game at any time and I think his price has come down far enough where he is worth the risk in GPP.

Small Forward

Cash Plays:  Jimmy Butler, Jaylen Brown, TJ Warren

Gpp Plays: Bojan Bogdanovic, Terrance Ross, Marcus Morris

Game Theory:   Jimmy Butler has found his price drop below the 9k range and I think that this is a good spot for him to potentially crush his new price tag. He has 50-60 point upside and I expect to see an upside game today against the Wizards. The Wizards play at a very high pace and I think that will help Butler get going on the offensive end as well as pick up a few steals and easy baskets in transition.  He is a great cash game play. Another guy who has been extremely consistent is TJ Warren. He is good for 25-35 FP every night and will never really kill your lineup. Another good spot to go in cash. In GPP I am going with Bojan Bogdanovic. I doubt Butler checks him in this game and I expect Bojan to put up a good scoring total tonight. He has the capability to score 20-30 real life points on any night, if he picks up some peripherals he could have a huge game.

Power Forward

Cash Plays:  Julius Randle, Gorgui Dieng, Tobias Harris

Gpp Plays:   Nikola Mirotic, Aaron Gordon, Quincy Acy

Game Theory:  Julius Randle has been a beast of late. In his most recent game he dropped a career high 32 real life points. I expect him to continue his incredible play tonight in a good matchup with the Bucks. He is an extremely safe cash game play who provides a ton of upside.  Another guy I'm really liking in cash tonight is Tobias Harris. He has just been announced the Pistons starting PF for the remainder of the season and while some might think he is better coming off the bench I like him in the starting lineup. He should see 30+ minutes tonight and can easily pay off his discounted price tag. For GPP I'm looking at Nikola Mirotic. The guy is the definition of a boom or bust play but in this up pace matchup coming off two really good games I think he makes for a great play considering his upside.

Cash Plays: Ivica Zubac, Clint Capela, Al Horford

Gpp Plays: Alan Williams, Brook Lopez, Kelly Olynyk

Game Theory:    Ivica Zubac should be popular tonight considering his price has come back down to a reasonable level. We've seen what kind of upside this guy has and provides a safe floor as long as he stays out of foul trouble. Another guy I am looking at in cash is Al Horford who I think is considerably underpriced. This is a perfect matchup with the Nets and the Celtics will look to get Horford more involved on the offensive end considering Isaiah Thomas's 20+ shots per game won't be fired up. He provides a really safe floor with some upside. For GPP I really like Alan Williams. I have found myself rostering him a lot lately and for the most part it is working out. The Suns are looking to play their young players and as long as Williams stays out of foul trouble he provides a ton of upside.
