NBA 3/20/17 Breakdown

As NBA is a game where last minute real life changes are made before tipoff, always monitor breaking news up to last second

Point Guard

Cash Plays: Russell Westbrook, Kemba Walker, George Hill

Gpp Plays:  Chris Paul, Patrick Beverly, Stephen Curry (DK)

Game Theory:  This matchup with the Golden State Warriors is not one you can expect Westbrook to be ill prepared for. He is going to come out electric tonight and is in the best spot possible when targeting the Warriors (PG). George Hill has been pretty inconsistent of late but he had a good game his last time out and I expect him to continue his form here in an up pace matchup with the Pacers. He's very fairly priced and provides a safe floor with some upside. For GPP my favorite play is Chris Paul. I don't think a lot of people will be on him today but he is now in the low 8k range on both sites. He offers a lot of upside at this price and should go over looked.

Shooting Guard

Cash Plays:  James Harden, Victor Oladipo, Tim Hardaway Jr.

Gpp Plays:  Evan Fournier, Eric Gordon, Klay Thompson

Game Theory:   James Harden is in a perfect matchup with the Nuggets, a team who have been targeted with guards all season. Harden wants the MVP and I think he'll use this juicy matchup to make a statement tonight. As long as this game doesn't blowout.. lock him in.  Another great cash game play I like is Tim Hardaway Jr. Another guy who I think may go over looked but has 40 FP upside. I think he plays 30-35 minutes tonight and a guy that averages .81 Fp/min provides a very safe floor.  For GPP my favorite play is Evan Fournier. This is an up tempo matchup for him which means more possessions for the Magic which will translate into more shots for Fournier.  He is capable of playing 35-40 minutes per game and has the ability to pop for a 30-40 FP game every once in a while. This could be the spot for him.

Small Forward

Cash Plays:  Taurean Prince, Joe Johnson, Trevor Ariza

Gpp Plays: Bojan Bogdanovic, Carmelo Anthony, Terrance Ross

Game Theory:   With Bazemore and Millsap both ruled out tonight a lot of value opens up on the Hawks. My favorite play at SF is going to be Taurean Prince. I have liked this guy all season as I think he has a lot of potential and plays hard when he's on the court. The only thing capping his upside was minutes which we should see here tonight.  Another option on the Hawks is Thabo Sefolosha who I think is a fine play for cash games.  My favorite GPP play is going to be once again, Terrance Ross. This guy has let me down a couple days in a row but is still seeing about 30 minutes a game which I think keeps his ceiling in the mid 30's. You can expect 10x from this guy if he is on tonight.

Power Forward

Cash Plays:  Ersan Illyasova, Juan Hernangomez, Aaron Gordon

Gpp Plays:   Richaun Holmes, Blake Griffin, Kristapas Porzingis

Game Theory:   The Hawks are opening a ton of value tonight so expect Illyasova to be a great play tonight with the minutes and usage he should receive. He is a player capable of hitting 30-40 FP/per game if given the proper minutes and usage. He is in a spot tonight where he could dominate.  Another guy who is going to be popular in cash is Juan Hernangomez. At close to minimum price he is projected to see 25-30 minutes. He averages .77 FP/minute which translates to 19.25-23.1 FP if he hits his average tonight. This is a plus matchup in an uptempo game so I expect even more from him in this spot.  For GPP I really like Blake Griffin. He is going to go way over looked with all the other spots to pay up for but if you are looking to go contrarian and pay up at PF Blake Griffin is your guy. This is an awesome matchup for him and I expect the Clippers to show up tonight.

Cash Plays:  Mason Plumlee, Clint Capela, Cody Zeller

Gpp Plays: Dwight Howard, Nene, DeAndre Jordan

Game Theory:   Mason Plumlee is going to be the chalk tonight and for good reason. He has been at or above 30 FP 6 out of his last 7 games. This is a great matchup for him which will be a high scoring game. Plumlee should be a lock in your cash games. For GPP my favorite option if you did not decide to pair Paul/Griffin would be to go Paul and DeAndre Jordon. The Knicks are terrible at rebounding and I expect Jordan to eat on the boards tonight. He's capable of a 20/20 game and if he is getting his blocks he could have a monster game.
