NBA Player Breakdown 12/2/2015

Guards

James Harden

James Harden (vs NO, DK - $10,300, FD - $10,800) – Harden is catching fire right now, and he is arguably the best option on the board tonight. Over his last five games, he’s averaging 33.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. He gets a great matchup against the Pelicans, who love pushing the pace. This game will feature a ton of points and opportunities to add peripheral stats. Harden has the ability to triple double in any given game, especially when he’s on fire. Right now, his floor is around 50 fantasy points and his ceiling is 70+ fantasy points. He’s a great play in all leagues.

 Quincy Pondexter

Ish Smith (at HOU, DK - $7,100, FD - $6,600) – Smith’s minutes dropped last night because Holiday, Evans, and Cole all played. Tonight, that trio will likely sit, as none of them are supposed to be playing in back-to-back games right now. Smith has been incredible when given minutes, as he’s averaging 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 9.6 assists, and 1.6 steals in 34.2 minutes over the last 10 days. If Holiday, Evans, and Cole are out tonight, Smith would be forced into huge minutes in a good matchup against a fast paced Rockets team. Once those three are ruled out, Smith can be used in all leagues.

 Isaiah Canaan

Isaiah Canaan (at NY, DK - $5,400, FD - $4,400) – Canaan has been one of the most consistent fantasy players in the NBA recently. His price is shooting up, but it still doesn’t quite match his recent production. He gets a good matchup against the Knicks tonight, who have struggled on defense at times this season. Canaan is entirely too cheap on FanDuel and he is price tag is fair on DraftKings. Canaan will continue to start at shooting guard, which will keep him a consistent player with good upside, and he can be used in all leagues tonight.

Forward

Kristaps Porzingis

Kristaps Porzingis (vs PHI, DK - $7,900, FD - $7,200) – Porzingis’ price is getting extremely high, but his upside is undeniable. Similarly to most rookies, Porzingis struggles with foul trouble, which limits his minutes in some games. When his minutes aren’t limited, he generally plays between 36 and 41 minutes. Over the last 10 days, Porzingis is averaging 15.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 3.5 blocks in 33.2 minutes. He gets a great matchup against the Sixers, who have been one of the worst defenses in the NBA this season, and Porzingis is a great tournament play tonight.

 Robert Covington

Robert Covington (at NY, DK - $7,200, FD - $6,400) – Covington’s price continues to skyrocket, but it’s still a bit too cheap for his recent production. He’s contributing in all five categories, specifically steals, which gives him great upside. His price is going to continue to rise, and for good reason. He has tremendous upside against the Knicks tonight, and he is also a fairly consistent player. He isn’t quite a must start like he has been the last few games, but he can be used in all leagues with confidence tonight.

 Jared Dudley

Jared Dudley (vs LAL, DK - $3,300, FD - $3,700) – The value forwards tonight aren’t great, but Dudley does have good upside. The Wizards are dealing with injuries in their frontcourt, which means Dudley will continue to play around 30 minutes per game. He doesn’t need many fantasy points to hit value, but he does have the ability to get hot and score double digit points. He also gets a great matchup against the Lakers, who have struggled defensively this season. Dudley is best suited for GPPs tonight, but he isn’t the worst cash game play, either.

Centers

Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond (vs PHO, DK - $9,000, FD - $9,400) – Drummond is back on fire, as he has scored 44 points with 31 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks, and 6 steals in his last two games. Drummond gets a great matchup against the Suns tonight, who he has already dominated for 12 points and 17 rebounds earlier this season. The Suns will likely be without Tyson Chandler tonight, and there is no one on their team that will be able to slow Drummond down in the paint. He can be used in all leagues with confidence.

 Clint Capela

Clint Capela (vs NO, DK - $5,500, FD - $4,900) – Capela was recently inserted into the starting lineup, and he has thrived in that role. In those three games, Capela is averaging 14.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.0 block, and 2.3 steals per game. His minutes aren’t guaranteed, as he only played 22 in his last game, but he also has the potential to play 30+ minutes, which gives him 40+ fantasy point upside. Capela is still too cheap for his potential, and he can be used in all leagues tonight.
